epic metals
The design idea motivating EXTEND is a pull out framework that serves sustainable systems including solar power and rain water collection. Both pullouts will provide shade for occupants on the exterior of the trailer, providing dynamic learning environments throughout the proposition. The sloped roof of the water collection extension allows water to fll into a cistern that pulls out with the west end framework and doubles as seating when pushed back into the trailer. The solar paneled extension acts as a shading device while doubling the rough area to maximize energy intake. The ramps follow this stylistic language by also extending from the bottom of the trailer to provide a clear circulation path through the space. The Epic Metal product that we will be incorporating into our project is the Toris (A). This will be used on the roof as well as the walls for our inner capsule. The thin nature of this metal structure matches with our lightweight wood frame. We are also incorporating the EPIC Architectural & Sun Screen perforated panels, more specifically the EST paneling. Both products act as a sustainable teaching tool. We are also incorporating color to conjure as a whimsical learning environment, fitting for the Environmental Charter School! This project was done with a partner, Alyssa Mayorga.
